गोपाल भट्ट गोस्वामी ध्यान मन्त्र
Also known as: Gopal Bhatta Goswami, Gaudiya Acharya, Six Goswamis
§ 01
Origin & Tradition

About this mantra

The Gopal Bhatta Goswami Dhyana Mantra is a meditative invocation dedicated to Gopal Bhatta Goswami, one of the six Goswamis of Vrindavan and a prominent acharya in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. This mantra is used for contemplation on the form and qualities of the saint, seeking his blessings for spiritual advancement and deep understanding of bhakti-yoga. According to the Hari-bhakti-vilasa, a foundational text attributed to Gopal Bhatta Goswami and Sanatana Goswami, the dhyana mantra serves as a means to internalize the guru's grace and to purify the mind. The mantra typically includes the name of the acharya and may be chanted as part of daily sadhana.

The beej-akshara (seed syllable) 'Om' is often prefixed, representing the primordial sound and the essence of the divine. The phoneme 'Gopal' refers to Lord Krishna as the protector of cows, while 'Bhatta' denotes a learned scholar, and 'Goswami' indicates mastery over the senses. Chanting this mantra is believed to bestow the blessings of the Gaudiya lineage, enhance one's devotion, and provide clarity in the study of scriptures such as the Bhagavata Purana and the works of the six Goswamis. Traditional practice recommends recitation 108 times daily, preferably in the morning after bathing, facing east or towards a picture of the acharya.

It is often chanted before studying the Hari-bhakti-vilasa or other Gaudiya texts. No specific cautions are recorded, but as with all guru mantras, respect and purity of intention are essential. The mantra is especially revered in Vrindavan and ISKCON centers worldwide, where devotees seek the guidance of the six Goswamis. The Gopal Bhatta Goswami Dhyana Mantra thus serves as a powerful tool for connecting with the grace of a great teacher and deepening one's practice of bhakti-yoga.
