Vyapar Vriddhi Mantra

व्यापार वृद्धि मन्त्र
Also known as: Business Success Mantra, Trade Growth Mantra, Vanijya Vriddhi Mantra
§ 01
Origin & Tradition

About this mantra

The Vyapar Vriddhi Mantra is a group of mantras chanted for business growth, trade success, and commercial prosperity. These mantras are traditionally associated with the deities Lakshmi, Kubera, and Ganesha, who together govern wealth, abundance, and obstacle removal. The primary mantra, 'Om Vyapar Vriddhim Kuru Kuru Swaha', is a direct invocation for the expansion of business, where 'Vyapar' means trade and 'Vriddhim' means growth. The beej-akshara 'Shreem' in the second mantra is the seed syllable of Lakshmi, representing prosperity, while 'Hreem' is the seed of Maya or divine energy, often used in tantric practices for attraction and fulfillment. According to the Lakshmi Tantra (Chapter 11), mantras combining Lakshmi and Kubera are especially effective for material wealth and commercial success.

The Kubera Tantra describes rituals for invoking Kubera, the treasurer of the gods, to remove financial obstacles and increase profits. The Agamas, particularly the Shaiva and Vaishnava Agamas, prescribe the chanting of Ganesha mantras before any business venture to ensure obstacle-free progress. The Ganesha Lakshmi Samyukta Mantra, which combines the energies of Ganesha and Lakshmi, is recommended for holistic success. Traditional purposes include increasing customer flow, clearing debts, and ensuring steady profit. The recommended chanting context is during the waxing moon phase (Shukla Paksha), especially on Fridays (for Lakshmi) and Wednesdays (for Ganesha).

Chanting 108 times daily, preferably in the morning after bathing, is standard. For best results, one should face east or north, use a copper or silver vessel with water, and offer red flowers (for Ganesha) or lotus flowers (for Lakshmi). Cautions include avoiding meat, alcohol, and negative thoughts during the chanting period. It is also advised to perform the mantra with pure intent, as misuse for unethical gains may lead to adverse effects. The mantras are pan-Indian and are especially popular during Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras, and Ganesh Chaturthi.
