Prakamya Siddhi Mantra

प्राकाम्य सिद्धि मन्त्र
Also known as: Will Fulfillment, Desire Power, Irresistible Will
§ 01
Origin & Tradition

About this mantra

The Prakamya Siddhi Mantra is a sacred invocation for attaining prakamya, one of the eight siddhis (yogic powers) described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (Vibhuti Pada, sutra 3.45). Prakamya is the power to have one's will fulfilled without obstruction, enabling the practitioner to achieve any desire or intention. This mantra is primarily associated with Lord Shiva, the supreme yogi, and Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, as both deities embody the mastery of will and the fulfillment of aspirations. The beej-akshara (seed syllable) 'Om' is central to the mantra, representing the primordial sound and the cosmic vibration that aligns the practitioner's will with universal consciousness.

According to the Mantra Mahodadhi, a key text on mantra-shastra, the repetition of such siddhi mantras activates latent spiritual energies and purifies the mind, allowing the practitioner to overcome inner and outer impediments. The traditional purpose of this mantra is to cultivate an irresistible will, enhance determination, and manifest one's goals with focused intent. It is chanted for success in endeavors, mastery over desires, and the realization of personal aspirations. Recommended chanting context includes early morning or during meditation, with a count of 108 repetitions per session using a rudraksha or crystal mala.

Ritual setting may involve a clean, quiet space with an image of Shiva or Ganesha, and offerings of white flowers or incense. Cautions: This mantra should be practiced with a pure heart and ethical intention, as the power of prakamya can amplify both positive and negative karmic consequences. The Devi Mahatmya (Chapter 11) warns that misuse of siddhis leads to spiritual downfall. Therefore, it is advised to chant under the guidance of a qualified guru and to combine practice with selfless service and devotion.
