Vaibhava Prapti Mantra

वैभव प्राप्ति मन्त्र
Also known as: Vaibhava Prapti, Prosperity Gain, Wealth and Power
§ 01
Origin & Tradition

About this mantra

The Vaibhava Prapti Mantra is a sacred invocation dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth, prosperity, and sovereignty. The term 'vaibhava' denotes majesty, power, and opulence, encompassing both material abundance and spiritual authority. This mantra is primarily chanted for the attainment of prosperity, influence, and the blessings of the goddess of wealth. Its textual origins are found in the Lakshmi Tantra, a Pancaratra text that expounds the worship of Lakshmi as the supreme goddess. The mantra is also referenced in the Mantra Mahodadhi, which provides detailed instructions on its usage and benefits.

The beej-akshara (seed syllable) 'Om' at the beginning invokes the primordial cosmic vibration, while 'Vaibhava Pradayai Namah' translates to 'salutations to the giver of vaibhava.' Phonetically, the mantra emphasizes the 'va' sound, which is associated with abundance and expansion. According to the Lakshmi Tantra, regular chanting of this mantra bestows material wealth, social status, and the power to influence others. It is traditionally recommended to chant the mantra 108 times daily, preferably during the morning or evening hours, facing east or north. The ideal ritual setting includes a clean space, a picture or idol of Lakshmi, and offerings of red flowers, incense, and sweets. Chanting on Fridays, during Diwali, or on Dhanteras is considered especially auspicious.

The mantra is also used in conjunction with other Lakshmi mantras for enhanced effect. Cautions: This mantra should be chanted with pure intentions and not for selfish or harmful purposes. It is advised to maintain a sattvic diet and avoid intoxicants during the practice. The mantra is suitable for all sincere seekers, but those with impure motives may not receive its full benefits. As per the Mantra Mahodadhi, the mantra should be received from a qualified guru for optimal results.
